We raise and show Black American cavys and are currently dipping our toes into the Dalmation gene pool. American cavys are the most common breed of cavy; they are also one of the original 3 breeds of cavy.
Americans are to have a high, full crown, broad shoulders, medium body length, a strong midsection and and well filled hindquarters. The topline when viewed in profile, descends slightly from crown to well rounded hips. Head has a wide, blunt Roman nose. They have hair not exceeding an inch in length and have nine different variety groups including 70+ color varieties and combinations.
